// Background

A native of the Pittsburgh area, Dr. Brown returned home to practice cosmetic dermatology in the city she grew up in. She and her husband Michael have four children and four medical practices — Esvie Medical Spa in Pittsburgh, Monument Dermatology in Pittsburgh, and Southern Dermatology and Southern Vanity Medical Spa in Augusta, Georgia, and Aiken, South Carolina.

Trained at Walter Reed.

Dr. Brown earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from West Virginia University, graduating cum laude. She continued at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating in the top ten percent of her class. During medical school she served as a reserve U.S. Army Officer; on graduation she entered active duty and completed her dermatology residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

Her residency carried a focused track in cosmetic and aesthetic dermatology. She shadowed Dr. Tina Alster in Washington, D.C. — a foundational figure in modern cosmetic dermatology — and helped develop the cosmetic training curriculum used by other residents at Walter Reed.

Major. Chief of Dermatology.

Dr. Brown continued in military service after residency, rising to the rank of Major and serving as Chief of Dermatology at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center. The training informs how she practices: disciplined, anatomic, exact about dose. Soldiers who needed a procedure done well, the first time, with no second chance — that was her clinic.

She brought that practice home to Pittsburgh.

Clinical focus.

Dr. Brown is fellowship-quality in both medical and cosmetic dermatology. Her clinical scope at Esvie covers:

  • Injectables. Neurotoxin and filler placed against facial anatomy, not against templates. Botox, Daxxify, Jeuveau, Juvederm, Sculptra, Kybella, RHA, Revanesse — every unit by the physician.
  • Lasers and energy. Fractional CO₂ resurfacing, IPL, Nd:YAG (Laser Genesis), infrared skin-tightening, vascular and hair-removal lasers. Settings selected by skin type and indication, not by package.
  • Surgical and medical dermatology. Skin cancer detection and excision, acne and rosacea protocols, and the broader scope of general dermatology — the practice is medical first.
  • Skin programs. Multi-step protocols (microneedling, RF, peels, peptides) tuned to your anatomy and what you've already tried.

How the practice runs.

Most cosmetic practices delegate. The neurotoxin goes to a nurse. The laser to an aesthetician. The consultation to a coordinator. Esvie does not. Every neurotoxin unit, every filler bolus, every laser pass — placed personally by Dr. Brown.

New-patient consultations are unhurried and in-person with the physician. Pricing is discussed in the room, against a written treatment plan. Some patients leave with a written non-treatment plan instead. We say no to procedures that don't suit the anatomy.

This is the practice she came home to build.
