What it is
Daxxify is DaxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm, a botulinum toxin type A formulation by Revance, FDA-approved in 2022. Like Botox and Jeuveau, it temporarily blocks the nerve signal that causes targeted muscles to contract. Unlike them, it is formulated with a peptide stabilizer that extends its duration.
The clinical impact: median effect duration in pivotal trials was approximately six months, compared to three to four months for traditional botulinum toxin formulations.

How Dr. Brown approaches it
Daxxify is dosed by anatomy, not by formula. The unit count that suits one glabella will overweight another. Dr. Brown evaluates muscle bulk, brow position, and the stated goal — full smoothing, partial softening, or selective treatment of one set of lines — before injecting.
Typical glabellar dose: comparable to Botox unit ranges, twenty to forty units depending on muscle bulk. Forehead and lateral canthal dosing follows the same anatomic logic.
The longer duration is real, but so is the commitment. A six-month dose that produces too-frozen a result is six months of looking too frozen. Dr. Brown errs on the conservative side at the first session and builds up if needed at the next.
What to expect
Onset: Visible smoothing begins around day one or two — somewhat faster than Botox, which typically begins at day three to four.
Peak effect: Lands at approximately week two. Do not request additional units before then; the result is still developing.
Duration: Median six months; ranges from four to nine months depending on dose, anatomy, and patient response.
Aftercare: No lying flat for four hours, no strenuous exercise for twenty-four hours, no pressing on treated areas. Resume normal activity immediately.
Candidacy
Good Daxxify candidates already use neurotoxin and want fewer visits per year, or are committing to long-term maintenance and prefer to set the cadence wider. Patients with dynamic upper-face lines that respond well to standard neurotoxin will respond similarly to Daxxify.
If you have never had neurotoxin before, Dr. Brown often suggests starting with Botox or Jeuveau — a three-to-four month duration is a smaller commitment to test how your face responds before locking into a six-month interval.
Not a candidate if you are pregnant or nursing. Not a candidate with neuromuscular disease. Not a candidate if your concern is static, etched-in lines — those need a different tool.
