Jeuveau

PrabotulinumtoxinA-xvfs — a botulinum toxin type A formulation FDA-approved for the glabellar complex. Smooths dynamic lines of the upper face by relaxing the underlying muscles. Every unit placed by Dr. Brown.

What it is

Jeuveau is PrabotulinumtoxinA-xvfs — a botulinum toxin type A formulation by Evolus, FDA-approved in 2019. Like Botox, it temporarily blocks the nerve signal that causes targeted facial muscles to contract. The muscle relaxes, the overlying skin smooths.

Same mechanism of action as Botox. Same toxin family. The molecule is purified and formulated independently, which is why some patients respond slightly differently to one than the other — onset can feel a touch faster, duration is comparable.

It is not a filler. It does not add volume. The decision between Botox, Daxxify, and Jeuveau is one Dr. Brown will make with you based on your prior response, treatment cadence, and goal.

How Dr. Brown approaches it

Jeuveau at Esvie is mapped to your face, not to a template. Dr. Brown evaluates muscle bulk, brow position, lid aperture, and your stated goal — full smoothing or selective softening — before writing a unit map.

Typical glabellar dose: twenty to forty units. Typical forehead dose: eight to twenty units, weighted heavily by brow position (an over-treated frontalis can drop the brow). Typical lateral canthi dose: eight to twenty-four units total. These are starting ranges, not formulas.

Every injection is placed by Dr. Brown. The physician is in the room for the full visit — assessment, dosing, and placement.

What to expect

Onset: Visible smoothing typically begins around day two to three.

Peak effect: Day seven to fourteen. Earlier impressions can be misleading; the result is still developing.

Duration: Three to four months on average. Like other neurotoxins, duration tends to extend slightly with consistent maintenance dosing as the muscles habituate to the treatment cycle.

Aftercare: Resume normal activity immediately. Do not lie flat for four hours. Skip the workout for twenty-four hours. Do not press, rub, or massage the treated areas.

Candidacy

Good candidates have dynamic lines that appear with expression — frowning, raising the brows, smiling at the eyes — and want conservative, predictable softening rather than complete erasure. Patients who have tolerated Botox or Daxxify well are typically excellent Jeuveau candidates.

Not a candidate if you are pregnant or nursing. Not a candidate with neuromuscular disease. Not a candidate if your concern is static lines etched into resting skin — those need a different tool, often filler or resurfacing.

If you are not a Jeuveau candidate, Dr. Brown will say so, and offer the alternative that fits your anatomy.
