What it is
Revanesse is a family of hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers from Prollenium. The line is engineered with spherical, uniformly cross-linked HA particles — a manufacturing approach that produces consistent particle size and, in published clinical comparisons, lower rates of post-treatment swelling than some competitor products in the same density class.
Two Revanesse products are FDA-approved for cosmetic injection in the United States:
- Revanesse Versa — approved for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, including the nasolabial folds.
- Revanesse Lips+ — approved for lip augmentation in patients twenty-two and older.
The clinical advantage to highlight: published head-to-head trials of Versa have shown lower swelling scores at certain time points compared to some competitor HA fillers. This is meaningful for patients prone to post-filler swelling or those with limited downtime windows.
How Dr. Brown approaches it
Revanesse at Esvie is selected as an alternative HA family when patient history, anatomy, or goal points away from Juvederm or RHA. Patients who have noticed pronounced swelling with previous HA filler are often good Revanesse candidates — the manufacturing profile of the gel tends to produce a quieter post-treatment course in some patients.
Versa is placed in the deep dermal or subdermal plane for nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and general mid-face contour. Lips+ is placed in the lip body and along the vermilion border for augmentation, with technique adjusted to the patient’s lip anatomy.
Dr. Brown evaluates lip anatomy, fold severity, prior filler history, and goals before selecting Revanesse over a Juvederm or RHA equivalent. The decision is clinical — the brand on the syringe is not the point. The right product, placed in the right plane, is.
Every syringe is placed by Dr. Brown.
What to expect
Day of treatment: Topical numbing for ~20 minutes. Revanesse Versa and Lips+ both contain lidocaine for placement comfort. The visit runs 30–45 minutes.
Immediately after: Result is visible right away. Some swelling and possible bruising are normal — the swelling profile of Revanesse tends to be modest, but every patient is different.
Days 3–7: Swelling settles. Bruising, if present, peaks at day 2–3 and fades by day 7–10.
Two weeks: Filler integrates with surrounding tissue. The two-week look is the result you booked for.
Aftercare: Sleep elevated for the first night for lip work. Avoid pressing or massaging treated areas. No strenuous exercise or alcohol for twenty-four hours.
Candidacy
Good candidates have a clear HA filler indication — lip augmentation, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, or mid-face contour — and a history that suggests an alternative HA family may suit them better than Juvederm or RHA. Patients prone to swelling, patients with limited downtime, and patients seeking an alternative product profile are typical Revanesse candidates.
Not a candidate if your concern is deep structural midface lift — Voluma is engineered for that. Not a candidate for tear troughs — Volbella is the engineered choice. Not a candidate if you are pregnant or nursing or have active skin infection at the site.
If Revanesse is not the right product for you, Dr. Brown will name the one that is. The HA filler families are tools — the choice between them is a clinical judgment, not a brand preference, and it is made in the consultation by the physician who will place the syringe.
